Christmas 2021

 We had a lot of fun making Reindeer Cookies and Christmas decorations this week.

We used arrowroot biscuits, nutella, M&Ms and pretzels to make our delicious reindeer cookies. It was a lovely treat!

Our Christmas decorations had a 'Xmas Tree' theme. We made a finger print xmas tree card, a glittery xmas tree with a candy cane and then a xmas tree ornament for our trees. What a great way to end the year.

Term 4 EOTC Activities

Last week we did EOTC activities like the forest, Lake Ngatu, Waiari and the fun day at school and it was so much fun.

Poetry

 WALT respond to different types of poems. We are going to use different poems to help us practice our reading strategies.

What we learned in poetry was we did rhyming words like tea and sea. They both rhyme because they both sound the same at the end of the word.

We learnt about alliteration too. Alliteration is when words start with the same sound like broken baseball bat, burst balloon, a busted boat, I bet up a bowler hat,I wasn't being brainy,bright or brilliant,but you see my brain was.

Music with Matua Jade

WALT explore different musical instruments and we are Learning to give types of music a go. 

One Mondays we always go into the whare and when it was the the first day we got to have a play with the instruments and it was so fun. I played with the electric guitar, piano and drums, then when it was the next week we had to sing and it was so scary to sing but we could per up and I sang when Jackson.R was finish singing.When Jackson.R was finish me and my group went up and it was Hunter and Elena and we sang shotgun and it was scary and I got use to it at the first go so I had a second go but I only two turns and then we went to lunch.

Simple Circuits

We are learning about electricity and how to build a simple circuit.

On Friday we learnt about simple circuits and Electricity. What we did we got a pice of playdoh and broke it into two pieces. Then we rolled it in to a ball then we got two wires and a battery. We put the two wires inside of the play dough then we connected the two wires to the battery. We put the LED light in the dough and the LED lit up.

Asttle Writing - Narrative - I heard a whisper but no one was there.....

Teacher Note - ‘UNASSISTED’ ASTTLE WRITING
The children write for a total of 40 minutes. Within that timeframe they have to plan their writing (a brainstorm) write, edit and re-craft their work. They are not allowed to use dictionaries or word cards. The students completed their writing on paper but have typed it out for their blogs.

Once upon a time there was a far far away castle.There lived two children and a king they lived happy together and Amy the oldest she was a princess and she was kind and smart and her little brother was silly and playful , on the other hand there lived and evil scary nasty witch she was horrible and she made things go bad. The witch had an evil plan, so it was night and Amy and Jack ha dinner then went to bed ,but they heard whispers ,but they could not see the person who was whispering .Next morning they were very tried cause of the whispers,they went to the king but he was shocked and there was silent's,but then jack said what happened then the king said MY KING CHAIR IS GONE AND NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO SIT ON.So they looked on the cameras and saw an evil witch but then she disappeared ,so they went over to the witch and barked at the witch.The witch was very mad she was coming up with an evil plan but then the king said it YOU ARE BANNED FROM THIS LAND. So she packed her things and left.

   

Science - Water

As I was at home because mum kept me home,me mum and my sister karanui tried one of the water science projects. Firstly I clicked on the link that whaea Deb sent me then I read mum the instructions, 'we need half a glass of water and a piece of cardboard big enough to cover the top of the glass.

Then you place the cardboard over the top of the glass and hold it in place then tip the glass upside down holding the cardboard in place.

Now here is the tricky part when you think you can, take your hand off the cardboard and watch as the water in the glass holds the cardboard in place. My mum said we could video my project and we did then at the end she said we can take the cardboard off and the water will stay in but you will have to watch the video if you dont believe me.

Te Reo

 We have been learning our kupu o te ra and we do our kupu o te ra so we now our māori words.

We learnt how to play whare whare kemu because so we now how to say māori fruits ( huarākau) names.

We made a pukupuku and we made that so we now how to write in māori and also for a little bit of handwriting.We made a wheku masks because it was māori language week and it was just for a little bit of art too.

We learnt some māori words for our kupu o te ra and it went like this 'kei te ngenge ahau' which is 'I'm tired'.

School Values

Me and mum made a video about the school values. When she showed me what she did  I really like it and I like the song.

Baking

 Me and mum were baking at home because  it was another covid 19 lockdown in New  Zealand.

I helped mum make chocolate brownies. First we put the flour in then the butter and eggs then we mixed them altogether. Mum and I added some secret ingredients marshmallows and chocolate chunks but sshh!! dont tell anyone OK. 

My brother Lyrik made a lemon meringue that the whole family helped to eat.

Our Place, Our Stories

We have been learning about the taonga in our school and community. My taonga are my school values and in my community. We have also been learning our pepeha. My pepeha is a way to introduce myself and tell them where I am from.

First Draft - Mahuika Show

Once upon a time their were two girls named kahu and sissy and they were sisters.when every their nana would come home sissy would always hid because she did not want to do work. Kahu would always tell nana that sissy wasn't helping with the work.And when kahu and sissy found a kete they fight over it.When they fight over it the kete the kete ground at them and they yelled and they were scared. Then sissy got something out of the kete and it was a fire thing and then nana came back and when nana came back she told kahu to watch sissy because sissy had something dishrags in her hands. When nana left kahu had to watch sissy but kahu wasn't watching her and when kahu wasn't watching sissy sissy did a bad thing and the bad thing is that sissy made a big fire and then kahu and sissy were yelling then nana came and when she came she was running fast and then she put out the fire.Then when the fire was out nana freeze and then kahu and sissy were talking to nana but nana could not hear them.Then they stared to fight again.Then they were siting down and then WHAM something out of the kete and the name was potiki he was the last finger of Mahuika the fire god. Mahuika had one more fire finger nail ( and that was potiki) because maui he said that he nedid some fire and then when maui got one of the fire finger nails  he was not giving the finger nails  back and then when their was one more left mahuika got mad at him.When potiki and the two girls were talking saling WHAM!! something or someone hopped out of a brosh and the name was pewkeke he stloe potiki and the two girls were scared. They were on an averd to fine potiki.

My Mum

WALT to write a description of our mum using precise words to create an image in our readers minds.

I am going to tell you someone special in my life…….

My mum her name is Rj and she is special person in my life and I am going to tell you about  her. She has freckles, short hair, dark shiny brown eyes. Her favourite colour is blue. She wears earrings and she likes to wear face masks in the morning.

she is the best because she is always there for me when I am sad at home. She makes jokes and they are so funny that I carry the jokes on and mum says that I am so so funny. When it is Mothers Day me and dad go and get mum some flowers and she  loves the red flowers so we got her red flowers.

When I am asleep my mum always picks me up when I am asleep at nanas. My mum always puts me in the car but not now because I am too big. When I do not get a cuddle I ask my mum if I can get a cuddle. When we are hungry we tell mum and she gives us the best food even like my nana. When my mum is lying on the floor she is always playing with the cats and when the dogs are out mum plays with the dogs too.

ANZAC DAY

 ON ANZAC Day we always honour the soldiers that died in the war. 

We  go down to dawn parades on the 25th of April and we go down at dawn because that when they land.

some people were their family's melds which they won in the war.

Some people make ANZAC cookies and send them to the soldiers and they send them to the soldiers because they last longer.

Veterans march down and veterans are old people that survived in the war a long long time ago.

LEST WE FORGET

Statistics

 WALT ask a question for data collection, create a survey to carry out a simple investigation, make a tally chart and create a bar graph.

when we learn tally mark's we won't have to count like 1 2 3 4 we can but four line's down and but a (horizontal or diagonal) to make five.when every we learn a bar graph a bar graph need's a title and a label's.If we ask more than one question we are conducting a survey.

AMERICA'S CUP A-Z AND DEAR FUTURE ME

We have been learning about the America's Cup Yacht Race.WALT set goals for our future self.

Peter Burling was the youngest helmsman NZ has ever had. He set a goal when he was 11 to race in the America's Cup when he grew up. I am setting myself a goal for 'My Future Self'
